Miyajima (Hiroshima)

Itsukushima Shrine
Miyajima is a small island in Hiroshima prefecture. It’s famous for the Itsukushima Shrine, especially for the 'torii', a big gate, which appears to be floating at high tide. This sight is classified as one of the three best views in Japan. When the tide is low the gate is surrounded by mud and can be accessed by foot from the island.
