The Japan Rail West Kansai Pass is an ideal solution for travellers interested in visiting the central area of Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, Nara, and Himeji. These passes allow cost-effective unlimited travel (in the designated area) on trains operated by JR-West. Although the West Kansai Pass cannot be used on the Shinkansen Bullet Trains, it offers an excellent, low cost way of seeing the beautiful and historically important area of Kansai.
The Japan Rail West Kansai Pass provides unlimited travel within the nominated area, using non-reserved seats in ordinary class cars on local trains operated by JR West. This also includes all rapid and special rapid service trains. This pass is not valid for use on any Shinkansen Bullet Trains and requires an additional surcharge ticket before it can be used on any limited-express or express trains.
