It is valid for all the train lines offered by Hokkaido Railway Co. and the majority of bus lines of JR Hokkaido Bus, a great solution for visiting the snow-capped peaks and beautiful views Hokkaido has to offer.
The Hokkaido Rail Pass is valid for all the train lines offered by Hokkaido Railway Co. and bus lines of JR Hokkaido Bus, excluding routes from Sapporo-Asahikawa, Sapporo-Monbetsu, Sapporo-Obihiro, Sapporo-Kiroro and other irregular lines. The Green Pass allows the holder to travel in all first class carriages and similarly to the Ordinary Pass any reserved or unreserved seats of trains operated by Hokkaido Railway Co. are available to use. Any use of a sleeping carriage requires the pass holder to pay extra to cover the limited express and berth charges.
The JR Hokkaido Pass Exchange Order is available in 3 and 5 day varieties that must be exchanged for the full pass within three months of the date of issue. You must specify the date that you want to start using the Pass at the time of exchanging the Exchange Order which can be any date within one month from the date the Pass is received. You must exchange your Exchange Order for a Hokkaido Rail Pass within three months from the date of issue and specify the date that you want to start using the Pass.
