    Japan Rail Pass Child Ages?

Hello, can you please let me know what the maximum age to qualify for a child’s JR Pass?

    JR Pass Child Price

    Ages 6-11!

If your child is aged between 6 and 11 years of age at the time of travel, they will be eligible for the child passes. If your child turns 12 during the time that you plan to be using the passes, you will need to choose an adult pass instead to ensure that you will be able to validate your pass initially.

What about ages up to 6 years old?

Children up to the age of 6 (not including 6 years old) are able to travel for free on all Japanese trains. However, this is only valid if the child does not occupy a seat of their own. In the case that you have a 5 year old child and you do not wish to hold them on your lap for the entirety of the journey, it is recommended that you purchase a child pass in order to offer them a full seat.
