Can I Buy Multiple JR Passes?
Hi, I am going to Japan for a month and would like to purchase two Japan Rail Passes for my trip. I will only be travelling at the beginning and end of my trip and not during the middle so do not want to purchase a longer pass which I will not use. Is this possible?

Yes, this is possible!
There is no problem for you to purchase two JR Passes for your time in Japan and use them on separate occasions. This is a good way to travel in Japan if you need passes for longer than 21 days or only want to have your passes valid for certain times of your holiday.
How do I validate both passes?
There are two ways in which you can validate multiple passes.
1. When you arrive in Japan you can exchange any passes you have simultaneously and nominate the start dates for when each individual pass will be valid for.
2. Alternatively, you can exchange your orders at the time you need to use them if you do not have a definite plan for when you want them valid for. However, be careful about the 3 month validity!
3 month validity limit?
All Japan Rail Passes need to be validated in Japan with three months of the original date of purchase. This means that if you are planning on staying in Japan for a long period of time, you need to validate your passes before they become unusable!
