    Summer in Niigata is Great

Fireworks, or Hanabi, as they are known in Japan have been a traditional form of entertainment for many centuries. Summer is the best time of year to be able to view them with many events held all over the country. As there are so many different places where it is possible to view fireworks in Japan, it is difficult to recommend a single place as being the most enjoyable. Some places to look into though include:

    • Nagaoka Fireworks Festival in Niigata. 2nd August and 3rd August
    • Omagari National Japan Fireworks Competition in Akita. 26th August
    • Matsushima Lanterns and Fireworks Festival in Miyagi. 17th August
