Can you please inform me of the sunrise and sunset times in Japan around the New Year period? I wish to travel early in the morning but am keen to have a view of Mount Fuji from the Shinkansen.

Hi, according to Time and Date.com, sunrise is at 06:51 for the first week of Janurary in Tokyo. As the very first Shinkansen leaves Tokyo station at about 05:40, you will not be able to see the sunrise if you take a very early train.
